The Yanomami Tribe
The Yanomami Tribe is the largest tribe living in the Amazon Rainforest. It has a population of about 32,000 people. The Yanomami Tribe has a territory of 9.6 million hectares, over twice the size of Switzerland. It is mostly located the rainforest and mountains in Brazil and southern Venezuela. They might have migrated from Berling Straits from between Asia and America approximately 15,000 years ago.
They live in large circular and communal constructional areas called Yanos. The centre of the area was used for rituals and for playing games. Each family had their own share of land in the Yanos, holding hammocks, a fireplace and a kitchen. Every night the families lit up the fireplace to keep warm overnight.
